Quick and easy in easy out. Great prices for Quality meats. If I’m grilling, I have Steve’s in mind. The deli counter is great too. Also, not too many places stock Maple Leaf brand hot dogs.

Very pleasant experience. Gentleman behind the deli counter doesn't get upset even if I only want a quarter of a pound of Genoa salami. Cold cuts are always fresh; chicken and hamburger is delicious; it's a really convenient market and the liquor store next door, Quality Liquors doesn't hurt to make one stop shopping very convenient. Definitely five stars!

I am so happy that I live within walking distance to this amazing grocery! The prices are competitive with the big outfits and their meat and deli counter are amazing! I love being able to get a my choice of a pound of half pound of the delicious marinated steak tips, reasonably priced vegetables, and the regular necessities while getting fantastic service from friendly employees! It’s definitely a grocery store and not a super market but as far as I’m concerned, if I can’t find it at Steve’s, I must not need it that bad! I have never been disappointed shopping here and always leave feeling like I got a great deal! And they bag better than market basket, no heavy items on top of eggs or loaves of bread! Such a great community resource.

Great neighborhood market with great prices. Produce turns over quickly so it's always really fresh. Butcher meats are good and priced better than other local groceries. Ask for custom cuts and they oblige. Full deli with a lot of prepared foods. Phenomenal bakery offering pies and fresh bread (at the counter). Fantastic seasonal offerings like complete holiday meals. The neon sign is a Salem treasure! We live within walking distance and shop there almost daily. Minimal alcohol offerings and a bit cramped. But it adds to the ambiance. This is as "neighborhood" as it it gets! I hope they never go away.

BEST small deli in the area! Steve's is known for great prices on fresh meat, raw and cooked. Also, they bake fresh bread EVERY day! Very nice customer service and a decent selection of groceries. Quite a fixture of the neighborhood, and Salem's favorite downtown market. It's my go-to place for lunch meats and naked goods. I would be truly heartbroken if Steve's ever left town.

I wrote this eight months ago. Now I've been reading the new reviews from other customers who have some very serious complaints. (I haven't bought a rotisserie chicken for eight months just because I haven't been eating meat much lately.) I do have a few complaints. I remember the price of a single green bell pepper was absolutely outrageous and I did without till I could get to another store. BUT I do still recommend their ready to go deli sandwiches; they are very meaty and well put together. AND the always delicious Red Bliss potato salad. And I don't care much for potato salad! As far as service goes, the new owners have always gone out of their way to help me find items. So I guess it's a mixed bag and I will certainly be wary of the dairy and bakery products after reading the latest reviews. From eight months ago: I've been going to Steve's for 18 years and, as one without a car, it's so convenient! The store has recently had a make over, new lighting and new flooring that has really brightened it up. They've gotten some trendier items there too. I love their cooked chickens in a bag which are soooooo convenient they encourage me to make some actual recipes! A real neighborhood place, I recently ran into three friends and neighbors there!

Steve's is our friendly neighborhood grocery where you always leave with a smile. The prices are on the higher end but the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they always have what you need.

Long time favorite! Step back into time, real deli, butcher shop, and bakery! veggies and ready made items. Sundried tomatoes, fresh grated cheese, lots of great things to savour, old school atmosphere, wonderful folks you can enjoy your shopping experience with. Real Americana in the heart of Salem. If your camping on Winter Island do your shopping here, you will enjoy it 🎃
